ASTR 120: Fundamentals of Astronomy; Doug Patterson
- Getting started
- Students log in to Blackboard (online.jccc.edu) at the start of the semester to access course materials. Distance Learning Orientation materials are also available at students.jccc.edu/dlorientation

- Tests
- There are 4 exams and one Final. Exams are taken through Blackboard from any location. Each exam is made available for a limited window of time and students have on the average 90 minutes to complete them once the student starts the exam. Students taking
- Self-paced or deadlines
- The course is arranged in time. Assignments are available or due at specific times according to the Class Schedule.
- Frequency of course access
- Students who are successful access the site at least 3-4 times per week.
- Basic online format
- There are required chats and/or discussions. There are also on-line homework for each chapter covered and two article summaries. The article summaries are submitted via the Assignment Drop Box.
- Textbooks
- Yes. Textbook information is available online at the JCCC Bookstore.
- Computer skills required
- Students must be able to use a Web browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox recommended) and Windows Media Player. For the article summaries, many students upload a Word document to the Assignment Drop Box. No sophisticated computing skills are required. A f
