ARTH 186: Art History: Introduction to Asian Art; Rajee Mohan

Getting started
No mailing. Students gain access to the Art History course by logging in directly at dl.jccc.edu using their Pipeline User Name and PIN on the 'first day' of the semester. As soon as you access the course online, go to the ‘Lessons tab’ to access the “Getting Started” folder for the syllabus and other course information.
On-Campus Class Meetings
There will be no meetings at campus. However during the course of the semester there will be a museum visit. The student will have to visit either the Nelson-Atkins Museum of art or the Spencer Museum of art and complete an assignment. Students living in another state should visit a similar museum to complete the work. It is highly recommended that first-time online students attend one of the Distance Learning Orientation sessions. Students who cannot come to campus can access orientation materials online.
Tests
Weekly quizzes; two exams and a comprehensive final exam all conducted on-line
Self-paced or deadlines
This course has weekly deadlines; it is not a self-paced class.
Frequency of course access
Daily is best; three times per week is the minimum. Students should expect to spend 9-12 hours per week on the class.
Basic online format
Read assigned reading and accompanying unit outlines (extra material will be assigned online), participate in class discussions. Weekly quizzes; tests and assignments are all submitted ‘online’.

Computer skills required
Students should be able to navigate the internet using a standard browser. Familiarity with JCCC online system (JCCC orientation: see above). Should have basic typing skills; must know how to create a document using a standard word processing program.
