ARTH 184: Art History: Twentieth Century; Carla Tilghman
- Getting started
- Make sure that you have the Arnason 'Modern Art' textbook before the start of class.. You should also begin reading the Introduction and the first 7 Chapters. We're going to move through those chapters VERY quickly. As soon as you have access to the course in ANGEL, read through the Read Me file, the Syllabus, and the Introduction in the 'Lessons'.
- On-Campus Class Meetings
- We will not be having any on-campus meetings. However, each student will receive an assignment to visit a museum in your area. The details of that assignment will be available during the first week of class (after I find out where everyone lives.)
- Tests
- There will be three tests and one final (along with several quizzes). Details about the exams will be available on the syllabus.
- Self-paced or deadlines
- This is NOT a self-paced class. All of the course deadlines are available in the Calendar in ANGEL
- Frequency of course access
- You will need to access the course several times each week in order to post your comments to the Discussion section (this is a course requirement.)
- Basic online format
- In ANGEL there are several tools that you will use most: Calendar, Lessons and Reports (to check your grades/progress).
- Textbooks
- Arnason 'Modern Art' Prentice Hall, 2005 edition. Linda Weintraub's "Art on the Edge and Over"
- Computer skills required
- You will need to be able to open .pdf files and Powerpoint presentations. You also need to know how to add attachments in the Assignment DropBoxes. Be sure to check the JCCC computer requirements to access ANGEL. Make sure that you have reliable computer access for the whole course.
