ACCT 231: Intermediate Accounting I; Sherry Shively
- Getting started
- I put a free packet of information specific to each course in the JCCC bookstore for students to pick-up. I also mail the students a one page letter that tells them to get the packet in the bookstore and that there is a quiz over the packet due the first week of school.
- On-Campus Class Meetings
- There are no meetings on campus for any of my courses.
- Tests
- All tests can be taken from any computer with Internet access.
- Self-paced or deadlines
- Students can work at there own pace in all of my courses. I do give them a schedule of due dates to give them some structure---but I tell them the due dates are just a guide.
- Frequency of course access
- Students in most of my courses must access Blackboard every 3 or 4 days.
- Basic online format
- I give students assignments, which can be found on Blackboard and included in the free info packet. Solutions are also available to the students. I have to explain to them that they must work the problems and check their answers with the solutions. I then
- Textbooks
- There is a textbook required for every course. Textbook information is available online at the JCCC Bookstore.
- Computer skills required
- Most of my students don't need much in the way of computer skills. They need to be able to access Blackboard tests and submit them. Small Business Accounting and Computerized Accounting students need to be able to install software and data files.
