ACCT 111: Small Business Accounting; Hugh Forbes
- Getting started
- This is a "hybrid" course which means students are required to attend weekly, on-campus class meetings and to complete assignments and other activities online. For students who are not familiar with the ANGEL online system, general orientation sessions are offered by the College to assist in getting started. (Click on the "Getting Started" link of the ANGEL home page for the course to get more details or go to JCCC.edu, click on "Distance & Online" and then click on "Letter to Online Students.") This is a "late start" course. Check the JCCC Credit Class Schedule for start dates. FINAL NOTE: This class does not satisfy the prerequisite requirement for ACCT 122 (Accounting II) and may not be transferable to other colleges or universities. Contact the Department Chair for the Accounting Program or a counselor in the JCCC Counseling Center for more details.
- On-Campus Class Meetings
- There are mandatory class meetings for this course. Check the JCCC Credit Class Schedule for class meeting days and times plus classroom information.
- Tests
- Tests are administered online through ANGEL and in on-campus class meetings.
- Self-paced or deadlines
- This is not a self-paced course. There are deadlines for all assignments, computer projects and tests. Students turning in late assignments without making prior arrangements with the instructor may, at the discretion of the instructor, receive no credit for the assignment. In addition, students that miss a test may, at the discretion of the instructor, receive up to a 10% reduction in the score on the make-up test for missing the original test date.
- Frequency of course access
- The ANGEL portion of the course will be available daily. For the average student, study time is 9-12 hours per week.
- Basic online format
- Students will use the textbook plus the companion website for the textbook, the textbook publisher's website called MyAccountingLab and the ANGEL course website to facilitate learning the concepts and material.
- Textbooks
- The course materials sold by the JCCC bookstore are REQUIRED and include a textbook, access to the textbook publisher's website called MyAccountingLab and the Peachtree accounting software.
- Computer skills required
- Basic computer skills and internet knowledge are needed.
